To Our Flower Market Friends and Families

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and untimely passing of our friend and 2021 100th Anniversary Co-Chair—James Malick—on Sunday, June 6th 2021.

Jim was deeply loved by his family and close friends and will always be cherished as a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather. To all those who knew him, he will be remembered for his kindness, humor, optimism and camaraderie as well as his consistent willingness to lend a hand or offer advice.

We’re so very grateful for his many years with us and will cherish his memory. Always a passionate advocate, an energetic promoter and a beloved leader, Jim led many new initiatives working with local businesses to improve existing Flower Market features as well as developing new options to expand both our visitors and our volunteer teams.

We will continue to serve in his memory along with his personal mission statement:

‘It’s for the Kids!’

Jim was both our 2020 Flower Market Centennial Chair and our 100th Anniversary Co-Chair. His 2020 Chairman’s Letter was not published due to the cancellation of our 2020 event, yet we wanted to make it available as it reflects both his history with Flower Market as well as his passion to provide much-needed support for Delaware’s Children.
